Bullet Journaling on Lined Paper

Bullet journals are notebooks and may be on blank, lined, dotted, or gridded paper. It’s simply a matter of personal preference which choice you prefer.

I have tried all four styles and the two I prefer the most are lined and dotted.

I line the lined paper when I know I’ll be using the bullet journal to record lots of notes or guides. They keep my writing really neat and orderly.

However, when I’m feeling really creative and want to make lots of decorations or doodles in my bullet journal, I choose a dotted notebook.

The dots represent where lines would intersect if it were a gridded page. This help to draw straight lines both horizontally and vertically and provide ability to get artsy without the visual lines cluttering the page.

But like I said before, all four types of paper; plain, lined, dotted, or gridded are perfect for bullet journaling. Try them all and choose what works best for you and your journaling style.

#4. Moleskine Lined Classic Notebook

I have used Moleskine notebooks more than any other bullet journal noted here.

They are one of my personal favorites.

I keep them forever and love referencing them for information or just looking at them for memories or old doodles.

These notebooks are available in both hard and soft covers.

I was discussing the hard cover/soft cover debate recently with a friend. I prefer the hard cover because it allows me to have a hard writing surface no matter where I am.

On the other hand, my friend prefers a soft cover because she likes to fold the pages all the way back when writing as well as have the ability to put the journal in her pocket.

Whichever you choose, there are lots of color options for this notebook brand as well.

One note I’d like to point out with Moleskines is that the paper is a bit thinner than some of the other brands. I like this because I take my bullet journal everywhere and it makes the notebook lighter weight while still providing a lot of pages.

On the other hand, some people do not like the ghosting that happens on the following page. It’s something to consider when selecting the right notebook for you.

Features include:

  • Ivory pages with light gray ruled lines (70 gsm)

  • 240 pages / 120 sheets

  • Rounded corners

  • Gusseted interior back pocket

  • Ribbon bookmark

  • Elastic closure

#5. Scribbles that Matter Lined Notebook

Scribbles that Matter is another very popular bullet journal brand. It has light gray lined pages to keep notes neat and organized.

The paper in Scribbles that Matter is also much heavier than other brands noted here to prevent ghosting.

Additionally, this is the only notebook in this post that includes a built in pen loop.

I do want to note that I read several reviews and then mentioned some gel pens smudge in this notebook.

I recommend doing a pen test on the back page of your bullet journal when selecting your go-to bujo pens.

#7. C.R. Gibson Three-In-One Blank, Lined, and Dot-Grit Notebook
