You could be sitting in class, riding in a car, on a train or bus, waiting in a doctor’s office, sitting at a sporting event, sitting at the DMV, waiting for a movie to start, in a restaurant, or on hold on the phone - ugh..boring!
What to draw when bored?
Here’s a way to instantly get rid of boredom…start doodling!
It will occupy your mind, keep your hands busy, calm anxiety, and make time fly by.
Keep a small notebook or sketchbook with you at all times along. You might also want to have some colored pencils or markers. Here’s what I keep with me at all times to ward off boredom.
Easy Doodles to Draw When Bored
You can doodle anything you see around you or have some easy go-to doodles that you refer back to.
I’ve rounded 12 cute and easy to draw doodles for when you are bored.
#1. Doodle a Color
This notebook page is called How to Draw Yellow Things and includes step-by-step doodles for a sunflower, lemon, macaroon, pineapple, corn, and honey.
You could try this with any color! Choose everything green in the room and draw it or draw all of your favorite orange foods.
#2. Doodle Sea Creatures
Nicolegracestudies shows us how to make easy fish doodles. These include an jellyfish, crab, squid, puffer fish, and starfish.
There are so many creatures that live in the ocean that you could also draw: sea otter, shark, whale, sand dollar, sea anemone, clownfish, coral, octopus. What ideas can you come up with?
#3. Doodle Plants
Plants are one of my favorite things to draw when I’m bored probably because they are easy! Happydoodles made a page of potted plant doodle ideas. I love that she made staggered shelves on the page, created all different types of pots and plants, and even included some hanging plants.
#4. Doodle Letters and Symbols
Junefolio took a simple ampersand (& symbol) and turned it into a duck!
If you’re bored, see how many doodles you can create from your favorite letter. You could even write your name and then make cute doodles out of each letter.
#5. Choose a Season
Lana_makes took a full page spread, wrote SUMMER in the middle of the page, and then created doodles of all her favorite summer things.
How many cute doodles can you come up with for each season.
Tip: You don’t have to doodle all of these items at one time. Just create a page in your notebook or planner and then when you’re bored, add a few doodles to the page.
#6. Doodle Food
We take photos of our food and post them on social media so why not doodle your food instead? You can draw what you’re eating today, your favorite foods, or food categories (i.e. your favorite Italian foods or junk foods).
#7. Doodle Your Favorite Things
Mashaplans created a doodle page of her favorite things including coffee, bullet journal, computer, pencil, bikini, camera, watermelon, ice cream, and even a unicorn. You can watch a step-by-step video of all these easy doodles here.
